Pothole Detection/ Identification




Pothole detection is implementd using as hardware platform an FPGA development board called ZedBoard. The algorithm itsel is implemented in 3 distinct stages, i.e. segmentation, shape extraction and texture extraction. In segmentation, the image is separated into foreground and background. Shape extraction extracts the outline of the problematic regions, splitting them into pothole candidates and pothole shape candidates and, finally, texture extraction selects the faulty regions in the image.
